The financial aid process begins with FAFSA
Many schools will require the submission of additional applications, such as CSS profiles and/or institutional forms, along with the submission of various tax documents according to your application.
Various services offering to file or help you file FAFSA exist, but only a few offers to guide you throughout the entire process of financial aid.
After FAFSA, you also want to file:
1. Applicable state aid applications such as TAP Application for New York,
2. CSS Profile, if your school/institution requires one,
3. If you filed a CSS profile, you must also submit the required documents through IDOC.
Even after all this, you might have more forms to file, such as financial aid supplements that your school requires. You might even have to appeal to your school’s financial aid office if you believe your financial aid package doesn’t suffice for you to go to your school!
